Corpus Christi IceRays News Release
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Corpus Christi IceRays forward Nicholas Seitz has been named NAHL South Division Star of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey for Dec. 3-9, 2018, the North American Hockey League announced Monday.
Seitz, a Princeton University (ECAC) commit, recorded five points (3+2) in Corpus Christi's weekend sweep of the Odessa Jackalopes, including his first career NAHL hat trick on Friday night. In total, Seitz has a four-game point streak and has been a key offensive contributor in the team's current three-game winning streak.
"Nick raised his compete level this weekend and it led to success," said IceRays head coach Ryan Cruthers. "He was doing all the little things right and possessed the puck all weekend. He has a heavy shot with a quick release and when he puts it all together these are the type of results he should expect."
The New York City native has scored at a point-per-game pace since debuting for the IceRays on Oct. 27, totaling 11 points (5+6) in 11 games. Seitz (pronounced "SIGHTZ"), 18, started the season with the Alberni Valley Bulldogs (BCHL), notching four points (3+1) in 12 games.
Seitz is the second IceRays player to win NAHL Star of the Week honors this season. Goaltender Akira Schmid, a New Jersey Devils draft pick now playing for the Omaha Lancers (USHL), was named South Division Star of the Week on Oct. 29.
The IceRays play their next 10 games on the road, including this Thursday through Saturday, Dec. 13-15, at Odessa. Puck drop all three nights is set for 7:11 PM CT and will be carried live on Sportsradio Corpus Christi, HockeyTV and Mixlr.
Corpus Christi's next home games will take place on Jan. 11-12, 2019 against the Shreveport Mudbugs.
Single game tickets, season seat memberships, group tickets and suites for the remainder of the 2018-19 IceRays season are on sale now.
