Omaha Lancers News Release

USHL'S BEST BRACE FOR WEEKEND SERIES

When it comes to weekend series during the United States Hockey League's (USHL) regular season, it doesn't really get any bigger than this. The West Division-leading Omaha Lancers head north this weekend for a series against the East Division and USHL-leading Green Bay Gamblers. Green Bay (36-8-4, 76 Pts.) currently owns the best record in the league and enters the weekend with a five point edge over the Lancers in the overall USHL standings. The Gamblers became the first team in the USHL to clinch a playoff berth last week and continue to dominate the East Division standings with a 13 standings point edge over second-place Cedar Rapids. Meanwhile, Omaha (34-12-3, 71 Pts.) opened up a seven point lead in the West last weekend with wins in Lincoln and Sioux City. The Lancers have now won five straight games and six of their last seven overall. Omaha and Green Bay have faced off twice already this season with the two sides splitting the two prior meetings. The Lancers claimed the first get-together with a convincing 5-0 win at the Omaha Civic Auditorium on October 16th. Matt White tallied two goals and two assists in that contest while Erik Haula chipped in a goal and two assists. The Gamblers evened the season series, however, in the most recent meeting with a 5-4 win in Omaha on January 29th. Anders Lee powered Green Bay's offense with three goals while Chris Crane and Reed Seckel each chipped in a pair of assists for the Gamblers. The season series between Omaha and Green Bay concludes this weekend.

LANCERS CLINCH POSTSEASON BERTH FOR 21ST STRAIGHT SEASON

Following their 3-2 shootout win over the Sioux City Musketeers last Saturday and coupled with Sioux City's 6-0 defeat at the hands of Team USA the following afternoon, the Omaha Lancers became the first team in the West Division to clinch a berth in the 2010 Clark Cup playoffs. It is the 21st consecutive season (USHL record) in which the Lancers will be participating in USHL postseason competition. Omaha is now the only team in the West Division, and one of only two teams in the league (Cedars Rapids is the other), to have qualified for postseason play in each of the last seven straight seasons. Adding further perspective to Omaha's accomplishment, the Lancers have now qualified for the postseason in more consecutive years than 10 of the remaining 13 USHL teams have even been in existence.

NEWS & NOTES FOR THE WEEKEND

After their weekend sweep in Lincoln and Sioux City, the Omaha Lancers have now won more road games (19) than any other team in the USHL. With a 19-5-2 road record, the Lancers own a.769 road winning percentage.

The Lancers will face a Green Bay team this weekend that has won a USHL-best 18 games at home this season. The Gamblers are 18-3-4 at home this season and have outscored the opposition 91-56 in 25 home games this year.

The USHL's top two defenses face off this weekend as Green Bay has allowed just 112 goals against in 48 games this season while Omaha has given up just 118 goals in 49 games.

The Lancers have outscored their opposition 20-5 during their current five-game winning streak.

Green Bay's Anders Lee currently leads all USHL skaters with 31 goals this season. The rookie from Edina, Minnesota has tallied at least one goal in each of his last 8 straight games.

Green Bay's Steve Summerhays and Omaha's Jeff Teglia are tied for the USHL lead among goaltenders with 26 wins this season. Meanwhile, Summerhays' 2.13 goals-against average is tops in the league while Teglia's.920 save percentage paces all USHL goaltenders.

In his USHL career, Summerhays has yet to lose a game in regulation time on home ice compiling a 23-0-3 record when skating at home for the Gamblers.
