Ralston, NE - Keegan Ward and Brian Williams scored back-to-back goals in the first period for the Omaha Lancers to take a 2-0 lead. That was followed up by a Lincoln Stars' offensive outburst, scoring five-straight goals for a 5-2 win in front of 2,883 fans at Ralston Arena on Sunday night.

Keegan Ward put the Lancers on the board against his old team in the opening period. After taking possession of the puck to the left of the net, Ward let a shot go from on the goal line. The puck went off the side of Stars' goaltender Patrik Virtanen and into the net for the lead at 11:48 of period one. The goal was Ward's second of the season and assists were given to Michael Bigelbach, his second point in as many games, and Jacob Bryson.

Shortly after, Omaha took a two-goal lead. Nick Rivera went around the defense on the right side and cut back to the front of the net. After the shot was stopped by Patrik Virtanen, Brian Williams gathered the loose puck on the rebound and fired the snap shot in for his seventh goal of the year and a 2-0 lead. Williams' goal was assisted by Nick Rivera on the original chance, along with Nick Jenny.

Lincoln responded to pull within one goal just over two minutes later. From the right point position just inside the blue line, Ryan Jones' wrist shot deflected at the hash marks, bounced just before Lancers' goaltender Kris Oldham, and sailed into the net. Jones collected his third goal of the year with the assist from Ludvig Hoff to decrease Omaha's lead to 2-1 at 14:54 of the first.

The only goal of the second period came off the stick of Grant Jozefek on the power play. Kris Oldham had the save for the Lancers, however, Jozefek was there for the rebound power-play goal to tie the game on his eighth of the year at 15:43 of the second period. Biagio Lerario and Will D'Orsi had the assists on the game-tying goal.

With the two team's tied at two goals apiece to start the third period, Lincoln exploded for three-straight. Just 6:04 in, Tye Ausmus took a pass from Henry Bowlby at the hash marks and fired a wrist shot over the shoulder of Kris Oldham, just under the cross bar, for the 3-2 lead. The only assist was handed out to Bowlby on the pass to Ausmus who scored his first of the year, and the eventual game-winner.

Just 1:14 after the Stars took the lead, Biagio Lerario made it a two-goal advantage in the third on another rebound. Kris Oldham used his left leg pad for the save and kicked the puck to his left. Waiting to his left was Lerario to snap in his 11th goal of the season with 12:42 left in regulation. Ryan Jones and Ethen Frank were awarded with the helpers.

Defenseman Anthony Wyse stepped up from the left point position and gave the Stars a 5-2 lead with just over five minutes remaining. Ludvig Hoff cut back on the top of the right wing circle and sent a pass to the pinching Wyse at the bottom of the left circle. Wyse then lifted the puck over the right shoulder of Oldham for his second on the year and the three-goal lead. Hoff had the first assist with Carson Gicewicz with the secondary assist.

Lincoln ended their three-game losing streak with the 5-2 victory on the road. Goaltender Kris Oldham made 33 saves in the effort.

The Lancers are on the road New Year's Eve in Sioux City to face the Musketeers. Puck drops at 7:05 p.m. Can't make the trip?
