Omaha Lancers News Release

Green Bay, WI - An early goal from Mike Joyaux wasn't enough for the Lancers as Green Bay skated out with a 2-1 shootout victory on Friday evening at the Resch Center.

Omaha, participating in the shootout for the fifth time this season fell to 3-2 in the skill competition. It was the first time that the Lancers had been held scoreless in a shootout. Defenseman Mike Joyaux has points in back-to-back games for the fourth time this season. Andy Nedeljkovic made his USHL debut on Friday night. Greg Printz returned from injury, playing his first game since January 20.

Defenseman Mike Joyaux got the game started in the first period with a nifty move to give the Lancers a 1-0 lead. Joyaux sprinted in from the left point taking a pass from Noah LaLonde cutting towards the net. The defenseman deked from his forehand to back hand before putting a shot into the top portion of the net giving the Lancers a 1-0 lead heading into the intermission.

Green Bay got on the board late in the third period just after a power play opportunity expired. Brock Caufield saw a puck that had squeezed through Ryan Keane's legs and tapped it into the net, tying the game at 1-1.

After no scoring in the third period or overtime the teams headed into the shootout. No one was successful through the first three rounds of the skills competition. In the fourth Noah Cates was unable to beat Zhukov for the Lancers putting the game on the stick of Easton Brodzinski. The Green Bay forward walked in and beat Keane low to the blocker side, giving the Gamblers the 2-1 shootout victory.

Keane made 31 saves on 32 shots in the loss.
