Omaha Lancers News Release

Three unanswered first period goals put the Lancers too far behind in their quest to keep a non-loss streak going, a streak that had reached 18 games, as Tri-City defeated the Lancers 5-2 on Tuesday, March 20th, in Kearney, Nebraska.

Tri-City received goals in the first period from David Brownschidle, Andrew Sackrison and Sean Wiles in posting a 3-0 lead after one period. Alex Hudson added another goal for a 4-0 bulge before the Lancers started a comeback.

Ben Arnt deflected a shot on a scramble for his ninth goal of the year at 11:58 of the second period, assisted by Jack Downing and Brett Bruneteau to cut the deficit down to 4-1. It became 4-2 for Tri-City, when Lancer forward Mark Olver scored his 25th goal of the year, assisted by Chris Hepp, at the 38 second mark of the third period of the play.

However, Tri-City goalie Ian Keserich stopped any further scoring attempts from there and Nick Oslund slid in an empty net goal with 1:43 remaining for the final score.

The Lancers outshot the Storm 36-34 for the contest, posting 13 shots on goal in the second period. However, the Storm scored once in three power play chances, while the Lancers were unable to score in four power play attempts.

Drew Palmisano suffered the loss in net for the Lancers with a 15-save, 4-goal effort in 24:49 of playing time. Michal Valent replaced Palmisano after the Storm's fourth goal and shut out Tri-City the rest of the way, making 14 saves in 33:14 of playing time.

The Lancers still lead the West Division by three points over Lincoln, but are now tied for first place overall with Cedar Rapids.

On Friday night, the Lancers host the Sioux Falls Stampede at the Mid America Center, starting at 7 PM, following a trip to Lincoln to meet the Stars on Saturday, March 24th, also at 7 PM. Broadcast coverage on Magic 1490, KOMJ, begins at 6:50 PM each evening.
