Lancers Defenseman Jake Bischoff Drafted by NY Islanders

OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) are pleased to announce that defenseman Jake Bischoff was selected 185th overall (Round 7) today by the New York Islanders in the 2012 National Hockey League (NHL) Entry Draft. A 6'0", 180-pound defenseman from Grand Rapids, Minnesota, Bischoff joined Omaha late last season and recorded an assist to go along with two penalty minutes and six shots on goal in 10 games.

Committed to the University of Minnesota, Bischoff began last season at Grand Rapids High School where he registered 11 goals, 29 assists and 40 points in just 25 games. Bischoff was ranked 147th overall among North American skaters on the 2012 NHL Central Scouting Final Rankings.

All told, 28 players who spent time in the USHL last season were chosen during the two-day event, including a record six first round selections last night.
