Omaha Lancers News Release

The Omaha Lancers have enjoyed a rather light introduction to the 2009-2010 season having played just one game during each of the USHL's opening two weeks. That all changes this weekend as the Lancers prepare for their first back-to-back contests of the season as they welcome the Green Bay Gamblers (2-1-1) to the Omaha Civic Auditorium Friday evening followed by a visit from the Fargo Force (1-2) on Saturday. Omaha enters the weekend 2-0 following a pair of 3-1 victories over Tri-City and Lincoln.

The weekend starts with a visit from the defending Anderson Cup Champion Green Bay Gamblers who skated to a USHL-best 39-17-4 record a season ago.

The Gamblers return 10 skaters off last year's roster and have shown some early offensive firepower having registered 18 goals through their first four games. Green Bay has managed at least four goals in each of its four contests to date. The weekend then concludes with a rematch of last season's opening round playoff match-up between Omaha and Fargo. The Force swept the Lancers in the Clark Cup playoffs last April and Fargo returns 14 skaters from that roster for this weekend's tilt. After an opening night 5-2 win over Lincoln, the Force found themselves on the wrong side of a pair of one-goal contests against Sioux Falls.
