Lance Galbraith Returns to Alaska

August 25, 2009 - ECHL (ECHL)
Alaska Aces News Release

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Alaska Aces have signed left wing Lance Galbraith to a one-year contract for the 2009-10 ECHL season.

The 5-10, 185-pound veteran will be entering his ninth professional season, having appeared in 400 ECHL regular season games among his 481 total. Last year, after a brief stint in the Central Hockey League, Galbraith contributed 18 goals and 18 assists in 46 regular season games for the Aces, then tied for the club lead with 10 postseason goals in Alaska's run to the ECHL championship series, including goals in each of the last three games of the Finals against South Carolina.

The 29-year-old native of Brampton, Ontario, narrowly missed out on joining teammate and fellow veteran Scott Burt as the only players in ECHL history to have their named engraved on the Kelly Cup three times. Both players claimed ECHL titles as members of the Idaho Steelheads in 2004 and 2007. Galbraith led all playoff scorers with 27 points (11g-16a) in Idaho's march to the '07 championship.

For the second straight year, the Aces open the regular season at home-against Victoria Oct. 16, 17 and 19, with all three games scheduled for a 7:15 p.m. start. Alaska beat the Salmon Kings in five games in the second round of last year's ECHL playoffs, when the Aces went all the way to Game 7 of the Kelly Cup Finals before bowing to the Stingrays.

Pre-season games against Kalamazoo at Sullivan Arena have been scheduled for Oct. 7 and 8 at 7:15 p.m. For those interested in Aces season tickets or corporate sponsorship information, regular office hours at the corner of 15th and Gambell are Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
