Lancaster Stormers News Release

The Lancaster right-hander, after allowing a pair of Southern Maryland runs in the first inning, pitched hitless baseball over the next six frames as the Lancaster Barnstormers defeated the host Blue Crabs, 11-2, Sunday afternoon at Regency Furniture Stadium.

On Tuesday evening, Cutura lasted two-plus innings, yielding nine walks, against the Gastonia Honey Hunters. Sunday was absolutely a different story.

Cutura fired seven innings, allowing four hits and one walk. He struck out eight and appeared in complete control of his game.

The beginning was slightly rocky. Jake Luce and Michael Baca opened with singles, and Alex Crosby chased a run hole with a force play grounder. With two outs, Josh McAdams lashed a single into center. Jake Marshall followed with a base hit to left, plating Crosby with the second run.

Zach Collier then struck out, the first of 12 straight that Cutura retired.

His offense took over in the second. Alejandro De Aza was hit by a pitch, and Kelly Dugan followed with a walk from Austin Glorius. Nick Shumpert doubled off the left field wall to score one, and Anderson De La Rosa got the next two home with a double down the left field line.

Blake Gailen doubled home two more with an opposite field fly ball over Luce's head in the fourth, and Dugan added a solo shot down the right field line in the sixth as Lancaster's lead continued to build.

The 'Stormers tacked four unearned runs on the board in the eighth and struck again in the ninth off the Blue Crabs bullpen.

Donald Goodson struck out five in two innings to wrap up the afternoon for the Barnstormers.

Lancaster visits York on Tuesday evening to start a three-game series. Fans may tune into the Barnstormers YouTube broadcast, starting at 6:30.

NOTES: Every Barnstormer in the starting lineup reached base...Only De Aza failed to get a hit as he was robbed by shortstop Michael Baca in the fifth...Gindl, Shumpert and Rondon had multi-hit games...Goodson threw 35 pitches to five batters in the eighth...The Barnstormers are back to .500 and only one-half game out of first in the Northern Division.
