Lancaster Stormers News Release

The Lancaster Barnstormers keep finding ways to win, even taking advantage of an opponent's mistake.

Left fielder James McOwen dropped Brad Boyer's two-out fly ball in the bottom of the 10th inning on Monday evening, and Emerson Frostad followed with a double to deep right center, scoring the winning run as the Barnstormers downed the visiting Long Island Ducks, 6-5, at Clipper Magazine Stadium.

The win was the Barnstormers' fourth straight and 12th in their last 14 games, giving Lancaster a 6 1/2 game lead over the York Revolution and Somerset Patriots in the Freedom Division.

Lancaster held a 5-2 lead with two outs in the eighth when Brandon Sing lined a single to center, and Bryant Nelson walked on a 3-2 pitch from Jason Urquiduez. Shawn Williams followed with a three-run homer just to the left of the batter's eye to tie the game.

Both clubs let a huge chance to score slip by in the ninth. Josh Johnson greeted Beau Vaughan with a double into the right field corner and went to third on a wild pitch. Vaughan struck out the side around a well placed one-out walk to Kraig Binick.

Lancaster had its turn. Fehlandt Lentini singled to left with one out and stole second. Terry Tiffee was put aboard intentionally. Lentini swiped third, but Jon Meloan struck out both Tommy Everidge and Blake Gailen to get out of the jam.

The Barnstormers produced a run in each of the first three innings to grab a 3-1 lead. In the first, Everidge knocked home Lentini with a sacrifice fly to right. Jaime Pedroza singled home Ryan Harvey in the second, and a Lentini ground out brought across Adam Godwin the third.

Tiffee added an RBI double in the fifth, and Lentini homered in the seventh to build the 5-2 lead.

Mark Brackman worked 5 2/3 innings, allowing five hits and two runs while walking one and striking out five. Tim Hamulack (2-1) retired the side in order in the 10th to earn the win.

The series continues on Tuesday evening at 7:00. John Halama (4-3) will get the start for Lancaster against left-hander Randy Keisler (3-1).
