
Jones and Diaz Lead Bluefish to Victory

(Bridgeport, Conn. - June 11, 2012) - The Bridgeport Bluefish (20-24) defeated the Camden Riversharks (21-23) by a score of 9-1 at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard on Monday.
The Bluefish came up with two runs in the third, five in the fourth, and two more in the sixth. Kennard Jones finished with three hits on the evening and drove in five runs which included a two-run triple. Eddie Rogers picked up a two-run homer to left in the fourth. His fourth shot of the season extended the lead to 7-1. Elliott Ayala, Pedro Lopez and James Simmons each came up with two hits on the night while Lopez reached base three times and Simmons scored three runs. Brock Peterson and Lopez drove in the other runs.
Camden scored an unearned run in the third on a throwing error with runners at the corners. Brian Burgamy got on base three times with a double, Steve Doetsch reached base twice and Lloyd Turner collected two hits for the losing side.
Bridgeport starter, Raymar Diaz (1-5), threw seven innings of one run (none earned), six, hit, two walk, five strikeout baseball to pick up the victory. Kyle Zaleski and Jesse English combined for two scoreless frames, allowing one hit and one walk while fanning three.
Camden hurler, Kevin Reese (1-2), suffered the loss as the righthanded starter completed four innings and surrendered seven runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out four. Jeff Farnsworth, Mariano Gomez, and Josh Walter completed the final four innings. Bridgeport produced two runs, four hits, three walks, and five strikeouts against the Riversharks bullpen.
Bridgeport continues a three-game series against the Camden Riversharks on Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Bridgeport will send righthanded pitcher, Jonah Bayliss (1-1, 3.12 ERA) up against Riversharks righthander Bryan Corey (2-4, 5.61 ERA).
