Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release

Chase Lambin hit two longballs and drove in three runs, but a Jeff Fiorentino grand slam put the Bowie Baysox on top for good, as they beat the Binghamton Mets 9-4 in the series opener at NYSEG Stadium Tuesday. Binghamton's lost a season-high six in a row.

The B-Mets (61-59) scored first thanks to a pair of first-inning homers. After Wilson Batista began the frame with a single off Beau Hale, Lambin followed with a two-run shot to right. Two batters later, Michel Abreu got into the act, homering to left to give Binghamton a 3-0 lead.

In the third, Bowie (57-63) pulled to within one on a Bryan Bass two-run homer off Miguel Pinango before loading the bases on a single, fielder's choice and a walk in the fifth, setting the stage for Fiorentino's grand slam off Pinango (8-7) that put Bowie ahead 6-3.

The Baysox added a pair in the seventh on two-out RBI singles by Cory Keylor and Raul Chavez before Lambin hit his second homer off Hale (3-4) leading off the eighth, pulling Binghamton within 8-4. However, Leo Daigle's two-out RBI double in the ninth accounted for Bowie's final margin of victory.

Wednesday, the B-Mets play the second game of a three-game series against Bowie. Philip Humber (0-1, 5.56) gets the ball for Binghamton against James Johnson (9-6, 4.57) of Bowie. The first pitch is slated for 7:00 at NYSEG Stadium with the radio broadcast starting at 6:45 on Newsradio 1290 WNBF.
