
Lakewood Takes Game 2, 2-0

LAKEWOOD, N.J. - The BlueClaws tossed their third shutout of the season with a 2-0 victory over West Virginia Saturday night.
Hoby Milner earned the victory with 5.1 shutout innings for his second victory. Luis Paulino went 1.2 innings in relief and two innings from Kenny Giles for the save locked down the win. Lakewood draws back to a tie with West Virginia for 3rd place in the South Atlantic League North Division and they trail both Hickory and Hagerstown by just one game for 1st place.
The BlueClaws scored in the fourth inning on consecutive doubles by Chris Duffy and Maikel Franco for a 1-0 lead. The game remained 1-0 until the 8th inning when a two-out single scored Kelly Dugan for a 2-0 lead.
Brian Pointer had his first four-hit game of the season and drove in the second run of the game with a two-out RBI single in the 8th inning to double the BlueClaws lead. Pointer was 1-for-10 since being recalled from Williamsport and 0-for-his-last-8 prior to his 4-for-4 night. It was Pointer's first multi-hit game of the season since May 31st and his third game of the season with at least three hits.
The BlueClaws host West Virginia in the rubber game of the three-game series Sunday evening. Gabriel Arias (3-5, 4.55) will battle Nick Kingham (3-7, 5.26) looking to take Game 3 of the series.
