Lakeshore Chinooks News Release
Wisconsin Rapids, Wis - Lakeshore traveled to Wisconsin Rapids tonight to take on the Rafters for the third time this week. After sweeping the Rafters on Monday and Tuesday, the Chinooks (10-10) had a harder time putting away Wisconsin Rapids (16-6) on Thursday. The Rafters beat the Chinooks 11-6 which extended Lakeshore's recent skid to three games.
Joe Glassey (L, 1-2) started on the mound today, but struggled to retire Rafters hitters in his three innings of work. Glassey finished the night going 3.0 IP, 5 ER, 1 BB, and 2 SO.
Wisconsin Rapids got off to an early start with a two-run first inning that put them ahead 2-0. Lakeshore was able to respond in the top of the second with three runs of their own. Nathan Aide hit a two-run home run to center field, tying the game up at 2-2. Bryce Stober helped put the Chinooks ahead with an RBI on a fielders choice groundout. However, in the bottom of the second inning, the Rafters broke free once again scoring three more runs that included a Chase Call home run to left field.
The Chinooks scored additional runs in the fourth and seventh innings. In the fourth, Joey Spence hit a leadoff home run to right field. This was Spence's third home run of the season. In the seventh inning, Matt Deprey hit a two-run home run to center field. Deprey now has six home runs and 32 RBI this summer.
Wisconsin Rapids continued to tack on runs throughout the game, finishing with 11 runs on 14 hits. Lakeshore finished with 6 runs on 12 hits, but stranded 11 runners on base throughout the evening.
The Chinooks will try and split the series tomorrow in game two against the Rafters at Witter Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35pm.
