Lakeland Magic Take Down Wisconsin Herd 117-113

The Lakeland Magic, NBA G League affiliate of the Orlando Magic, defeat the Wisconsin Herd 117-113, in front of a home crowd at the RP Funding Center.

The first quarter was a back and forth contest with the score 33-33 entering the second half. Wisconsin pulled ahead of the Magic by 10 points with 6:41 remaining in the second quarter but the Magic regained control of the lead with 2:39 left on the clock to take a three point lead into the locker room at the half.

Lakeland captured the biggest lead of the night, 17 points (92-75), with 3:02 left in the third quarter. Wisconsin went on a 10-0 run to get within 5 points entering the fourth. Wisconsin outscored Lakeland 24-23 in the final quarter but it wasn't enough to overtake the Magic who would walk away with the 117-113 victory.

For the Magic, Amile Jefferson put up his thirteenth double-double of the season with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Troy Caupain led the team in scoring with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. Assignment Player, Melvin Frazier Jr. had 19 points and 5 rebounds. Gabe York posted 16 points. Antonio Campbell and Braian Angola came off the bench to score 15 points and 13 points respectively.

Trevon Duval led the way for the Herd with 25 points. Jaylen Morris had 17 points and 6 rebounds. Assignment Player, Christian Wood had a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Travis Trice II also had 15 points. Shevon Thompson was just shy of a double-double with 13 points and 9 rebounds.

The Magic hit the road to face off against the Delaware Blue Coats on Wednesday, January 9 at 7:00PM at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA. The game can be viewed on ESPN+.
