HOOD JOINS VERMONT: Outfielder Destin Hood, Washington's 2nd-round pick (55th overall in the 2008 draft, was promoted to Vermont today from the Gulf Coast League ... With the GCL Nationals, Hood was hitting .330 (29x88) with 18 runs, 10 doubles, 3 triples, 3 homers and 24 RBI in 25 games ... To make room on roster for Hood, outfielder Brian Pruitt was transferred to the GCL Nationals.

FOR STARTERS: Vermont begins a 4-game series with Oneonta tonight with Graham Hicks (2-2, 6.31 ERA) scheduled to start for the Lake Monsters ... The first 2 games of the series will be at Oneonta on Monday and Tuesday before the series shifts to Vermont for games Wednesday and Thursday.

RECORD: The Lake Monsters are 19-17 after a 16-6 loss to Lowell on Sunday ... Vermont has lost 2 straight after winning 5 of previous 6 games, 6 of previous 8 and 9 of previous 12 ... Lake Monsters are 17-12 last 29 games since starting season with 2-5 record.
