Congrats to our 2013 NY-Penn League All Stars! The New York-Penn League All-Star rosters were announced on Sunday, including five Lake Monster players. Pitcher Brent Powers, who recently claimed the Lake Monster record for career strikeouts, will take his 1.85 ERA into the game as the American League's starting pitcher on Aug. 13, in Norwich, Connecticut. Joining Powers in the AL's starting lineup are outfielders B.J. Boyd and Boog Powell, as well as closer Trevor Bayless. Boyd has been Vermont's biggest source of power this season, as the left fielder leads the squad with five homers. As the lead off man this season, Powell has helped pace the Lake Monsters' offense with a .311 batting average and 11 stolen bases. In the closer role for Vermont this season, Bayless has provided solid relief with a league-leading six saves and a spectacular 1.17 ERA in 13 appearances. Rounding out the AL roster for the Lake Monsters is first baseman Ryan Huck, who hit six doubles upon being called up before being sidelined with an injury for the last 10 games.
