WASHINGTON, PA - The Washington Wild Things (35-38) and the Lake Erie Crushers (33-42) went head-to-head in an August 11, 2016 humid competition. Lake Erie recorded the win on the outing with a score of 7-3.
RHP Matt Fraudin (5-6) earned the win on the hill for Washington - in his 5.2 innings on the mound, Fraudin allowed four hits and produced seven strikeouts.
The Crushers were the first to score when Jose Barraza drove in a run on an infield hit. The Crushers scored again in the fifth when Connor Oliver blasted an RBI triple. The Crushers scored again in the sixth, seventh and ninth.
Washington tallied the scoreboard in the sixth and the ninth. Ricky Rodriguez scored on a wild pitch, and Jimmy Yezzo scored on an Alvaro Gonzalez double. Grant Fink homered in the outing. The Wild Things produced eight hits.
The team will head on a road trip, but will return home for a weekend series starting August 19, 2016.
