(EASTLAKE, OH) - The Lake County Captains (56-45) win their fourth game in a row, taking down the Fort Wayne TinCaps (44-59) 3-1 on a sunny Tuesday night at Classic Park.

Rodney Boone made his second start against Fort Wayne this season, and like June 10th allowed only one run. The left-hander permitted a solo homer in the second but just two batters reached after. Boone struck out seven and had four 1-2-3 innings over six completed.

The Captains got the run back in the fourth. Milan Tolentino walked and stole second. He moved to third on an infield single from Alexfri Planez. Then Tolentino turned home, a throw came to third and despite the ball beating the 20-year-old back to the bag, he reached around the tag and got back safely. A dropped third strike was delivered to Petey Halpin, it went to the wall behind home plate and plated Tolentino.

In the sixth, Tolentino led off the inning with a double to right-center. After a wild pitch, he advanced to third, and scored on a Johnathan Rodriguez sacrifice fly to left-center that gave the Picantes a 2-1 lead.

Alaska Abney worked a scoreless seventh despite putting the tying runner in scoring position and Jordan Jones had a 10-pitch eighth inning that ended on a strikeout. Mason Hickman earned his second save of 2022 with a 16 pitch 1-2-3 inning with two strikeouts.

Petey Halpin added insurance in a big way. The 20-year-old went yard over the left-field fence to lead off the seventh, his third longball. Lake County has hit at least one home run in their last nine games and are a perfect 5-0 in the Picantes uniform.

Lake County and Fort Wayne will play tomorrow Wednesday August 10th, with first pitch at 6:35 p.m. It is a Paws and Claws night, with pooch passes available for five dollars and White Claws for three dollars.

Coverage of the game can be found on WJCU.org/Captains and the MiLB First Pitch app.
