Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) fell to D.C. United 2-1 on Monday afternoon in a preseason friendly at the 2023 Coachella Valley Invitational at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, Calif.
An intense first half with a pair of key saves from D.C. United's goalkeeper kept the score sheet at 0-0 at the half. Denis Bouanga would deliver the opening goal in the 54th minute, after a solo run where he beat D.C. United's keeper in a 1v1 duel. D.C. jumped back into the game, scoring the equalizer in the 68th minute and the go-ahead goal in extra time (90+3'), defeating LAFC 2-1.
The Black & Gold continues preseason training ahead of the 2023 MLS Regular Season as they prepare to take on Toronto FC at the Coachella Valley Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 11. Saturday's contest will feature the second and final match for LAFC at the Coachella Valley Invitational.
