The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC), the LAFC Foundation and Kaiser Permanente are celebrating the six-year anniversary of their Golden Boot Partnership and being a Force For Good in Los Angeles with the dedication and opening of a new futsal court at Griffith STEAM Magnet Middle School in Los Angeles on October 18. This is the 26th new futsal court that the LAFC Foundation, Kaiser Permanente, adidas, and U.S. Soccer have built together in Southern California since 2018.

"Kaiser Permanente has proven to be a dedicated health and wellness partner in the community and a tremendous partner in our region and of our Club since day one," said LAFC Co-President and CBO Larry Freedman. "We are proud of the great things we have been able to accomplish in the six years we've been working together and look forward to continuing to be a Force For Good together in the community in the future."

"We are excited to celebrate this important milestone of opening our 26th futsal court in Southern California," said LAFC Co-President & CBO Larry Freedman. "We are proud of the impact we have made in the community alongside our partners at Kaiser Permanente in just six years together, and I know there is even more to come."

The collaboration has committed to providing five new futsal courts per year to schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District, totaling 26 courts by the end of the year. In 2023, Van Nuys Middle School, Telfair Elementary School, 24th Street Elementary School, Valley Oaks Center for Enriched Studies, and Griffith STEAM Magnet Middle School received new fustal courts built on the campus of the school, providing safe recreational opportunities for students and community members.

The ongoing project highlights each organization's mission and commitment to expanding access to fitness opportunities for students and providing an opportunity to play the world's game.

"In the dense urban environment of Southern California, open space where children can play is a premium, and we are thrilled to help bring these futsal courts to schools across the Greater Los Angeles area," said Michelle Gaskill-Hames, president Kaiser Permanente Southern California and Hawaii, Health Plan and Hospitals. "We are honored to collaborate with LAFC on our shared goal of encouraging play and improving the total health - mind, body and spirit, of LA's Youth."

Kaiser Permanente's roots run deep throughout Southern California, with a long history of expanding health access to communities, shaping health knowledge and improving environments. The collaboration with LAFC falls in line with the health care organization's mission to improve the total health of its 4.9 million members in Southern California, as well as the communities it serves.
