Wichita Thunder News Release

Wichita, KS - The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Edmonton Oilers, AHL's Bakersfield Condors and powered by Toyota, announced today the signing of defenseman Dylan Labbe (LAH-bay) for the 2018-19 season.

"Dylan is a smooth skating defensemen that can play physical," stated Head Coach Malcolm Cameron. "He's experienced while still at the young age of 23. He will be relied upon to play many roles for us and we're very happy to have him on board for next year."

The 23-year-old out of St. Georges, Quebec enters his fourth season as a pro. Labbe, a former fourth round draft pick of the Minnesota Wild (#107 overall) in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, signed an entry level deal in 2015. He appeared in 54 games for the American Hockey League's Iowa Wild during his rookie season, recording six points (4g, 2a) and 50 penalty minutes. Last season, he played the majority of the year with the Rapid City Rush. He brings 143 games of pro experience to the Thunder blueline, having also spent time with the Quad City Mallards in 2016-17.

"I'm really excited to play for the Thunder this season," said Labbe. "I can't wait to meet my teammates and the fans. I consider myself a two-way defenseman who plays a physical style on the ice. I can't wait to get going and will see you soon!"

Prior to turning pro, Labbe played three seasons for the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's Shawinigan Cataractes. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound defenseman scored a career-high 51 points (15g, 36a) in 2014-15 and finished with 106 points (31g, 71a) during his junior career.
