LA Galaxy News Release
CARSON, Calif. (Monday, July 21, 2014) - The LA Galaxy (7-4-6, 27 points) step away from league play this week to take on Manchester United at the Rose Bowl Stadium on Wednesday, July 23 live on FOX Sports 1 at 8:00 pm PT. Fans are strongly advised to arrive to the Rose Bowl Stadium early due to LA commuter traffic. If fans do not arrive early it is anticipated that they will need to walk in parking lots as far as one mile from the stadium and will be in danger of missing the start of the game.
Since 1996, the Galaxy have played in more than 90 international friendlies during preseason, postseason tours and mid-summer friendlies, compiling a record of 40-25-29. Last year the LA Galaxy defeated Italian Serie A side Juventus 3-1 at Dodger Stadium as part of the Guinness International Champions Cup.
Fresh from his exploits with the Netherlands at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, new Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal will make his coaching debut in United's match against the LA Galaxy in Pasadena.
Many of United's World Cup players will also be in attendance for the duration of the tour including England's Wayne Rooney, Mexico's Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez, Spanish goalkeeper David De Gea, Japanese midfielder Shinji Kagawa, and Spain's Juan Mata.
Manchester United will hold an open training session on Tuesday, July 22 at 7:00 p.m. PT at the Rose Bowl Stadium ahead of the Chevrolet Cup against the LA Galaxy. Van Gaal and a United player will hold a press conference at 6:30 pm PT prior to the Open Training.
General admission tickets to the open training session, which cost $20, are available for purchase via Ticketmaster. Limited VIP Tickets for Manchester United's open training are also available for $300, and include field level seating and an autograph session following training. All proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the LA Galaxy Foundation.
