LA Galaxy Sign Midfielder Joe Corona

LOS ANGELES - The LA Galaxy have signed midfielder Joe Corona from Liga MX side Club Tijuana, the club announced today. The 28-year-old U.S. Men's National Team veteran joins the Galaxy after playing throughout Mexico since 2010. He will be added to the LA Galaxy's roster using Targeted Allocation Money (TAM).
"Joe is an experienced and quality player who can immediately address an area of need for our club," said LA Galaxy General Manager Dennis te Kloese. "I am familiar with Joe from his time in Liga MX and think he can be an impactful player on our roster. We are excited to welcome Joe to our team and look forward to his contributions."
Born in Los Angeles, Corona began his professional career with Club Tijuana in 2010. In his first season with the club, he helped his side earn promotion to the Primera División after making 34 starts and scoring six goals. In all, he has made 195 appearances for Club Tijuana, scoring 11 goals and adding nine assists. He has also spent time on loan playing for Club América, Veracruz and Sinaloa in Mexico.
In addition to his professional career in Mexico, Corona has featured for the U.S. Men's National Team on both the youth and senior levels. The midfielder has made 23 senior appearances for the USMNT team, including caps during Olympic qualifying, CONCACAF Gold Cup and FIFA World Cup Qualifying matches.
This week, Corona and the LA Galaxy will compete in their first away match of the 2019 season, taking FC Dallas at 12:30 p.m. PT on Saturday, March 9 at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas (Univision, UniMas).
