
Columbus Crew SC Sends Ben Lundgaard and Aboubacar Keita on Loan

COLUMBUS - Columbus Crew SC today announced that it has loaned goalkeeper Ben Lundgaard to the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the USL Championship, as well as loaned defender Aboubacar Keita to the Richmond Kickers of USL League One on a game-by-game basis. Per the Right of Recall incorporated in the loan agreements, Crew SC retains the right to recall the players at any point during the MLS regular season, subject to MLS roster compliance guidelines.
Ben Lundgaard was selected by the Black & Gold with the 21st overall pick in the First Round of the 2018 MLS SuperDraft on January 19, 2018. Lundgaard played four seasons at Virginia Tech from to 2014-2017, making 70 appearances (all starts) and registering 23 shutouts. The Pittsburgh Riverhounds are led by Head Coach Bob Lilley and begin their regular season on Saturday, March 16 against the Tampa Bay Rowdies at Al Lang Stadium.
Aboubacar Keita is a product of the Crew SC Academy and was signed by the Crew as a Homegrown Player on January 22, 2019. Keita, a Columbus, Ohio native, started every match for the University of Virginia in 2018, making 17 appearances (all starts) and scoring one goal. The Richmond Kickers are led by Head Coach David Bulow and begin their regular-season against Lansing Ignite FC on Saturday, March 30, at City Stadium.
