LA Galaxy Earn 1-0 Shutout Win over Minnesota United FC at Allianz Field on Saturday Night

LOS ANGELES - Playing the first of three games in seven days, the LA Galaxy earned a 1-0 shutout win on the road over Minnesota United FC at Allianz Field on Saturday night. Kévin Cabral scored a goal for a second consecutive match, while goalkeeper Jonathan Klinsmann tallied seven saves and a shoutout in his first appearance for the Galaxy during the 2021 campaign.

Galaxy Firsts

In his first start of the year, Klinsmann registered seven saves and a shutout in his 2021 debut for LA. Dejan Joveljić registered an assist in his LA Galaxy and MLS debut, starting and playing 57 minutes in the win over Minnesota. Niko Hämäläinen started and played 90 minutes in his debut for LA. Notably, under Head Coach Greg Vanney, 17 players have made their Galaxy debut during the 2021 campaign.

Galaxy Run of Form

In nine matches played on the road in 2021, the Galaxy are 4-4-1. Since earning a 2-2 draw at Real Salt Lake on July 21, the Galaxy are 3-1-2 in their last six matches played in league play. The Galaxy posted their second shutout in their last three games played dating back to a 1-0 win over Real Salt Lake on Aug. 4.

Goal-Scoring Plays

LA - Kévin Cabral (Dejan Joveljić), 43rd minute: Cabral picked up the ball at midfield and quickly played it to Joveljić. The Serbian international took a touch and picked out a pass into space behind the Minnesota backline to Cabral, whose off-balance shot from inside the penalty area found the back of the goal.
