LA GALAXY AND KCAL 9 SIGN EXTENSIVE THREE-YEAR DEAL

KCAL BECOMES EXCLUSIVE LOCAL TV BROADCASTER FOR GALAXY. PACT INCLUDES 10 SATURDAY GAMES AND "GALAXY UPDATE" SEGMENT EVERY SUNDAY

Pasadena, CA. (Tuesday, March 19, 2002) - The Los Angeles Galaxy and KCAL 9 have entered into an extensive, three-year broadcasting agreement, it was announced today by Doug Hamilton, Vice President/General Manager of the LA Galaxy and Patrick McClenahan, Sr. Vice President and Station Manager of KCAL.

Under the terms of the deal, which covers the next three seasons, KCAL will be the exclusive local broadcaster for 10 games of the LA Galaxy, the AEG-operated Major League Soccer franchise. The broadcasts will include a pre-game show as part of the two and a half-hour programming block during the Saturday games. In addition, KCAL will produce a weekly "Galaxy Update" which will air during KCAL's Sportsnews Sunday. KCAL's coverage will include both home and away games.

"We are pleased that KCAL will be our local broadcaster, bringing "Soccer Saturday" to its Southern California viewers, " said Hamilton. "Along with televising the games, the pre-game coverage and weekly update feature will play an important role in promoting the Galaxy's entertaining brand of high-quality soccer. We look forward to the next three seasons as KCAL solidifies its role as a valuable partner for the Galaxy and its advertisers, and a leading source of information about the Galaxy for the fans and the station's viewers."

Additionally, the two companies will collaborate on a number of unique marketing initiatives, as well as on-air and on-site promotions. KCAL will also have an enhanced presence at all Galaxy games and related events.

The Galaxy has made a number of strategic player acquisitions during the off-season, including acquiring notable international player Carlos Ruiz and MLS stars Chris Albright and Tyrone Marshall.

KCAL 9 is the leading local broadcaster of major professional sports in the nation. In addition to the Galaxy, KCAL is the broadcast home of the Los Angeles Lakers basketball, Anaheim Angels baseball, Mighty Ducks of Anaheim hockey, Fight Night Live boxing, the LA Marathon, and the John R.
