LA Galaxy News Release
CARSON, Calif. (Tuesday, May 13, 2014) - The LA Galaxy, in conjunction with Chevrolet, have announced that the July 23 match between Galaxy and Manchester United at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, Calif., has been named the Chevrolet FC Cup.
The Galaxy match against Manchester United will be the first-match that the English giants will play in their new Chevrolet-branded jerseys as part of a seven-year shirt sponsorship with the iconic car manufacturer. As part of the build-up to the Chevrolet FC Cup, the Galaxy and Chevrolet, who is the presenting partner of both the LA Galaxy Academy and the LA Galaxy Camps and Clinics, have partnered to organize two youth soccer tournaments - Copa LA Driven by Chevrolet and Cruze to the Cup Futsal Tournament Driven by Chevrolet.
The 13th annual Copa LA Soccer Tournament is an Under-8 to Under-19 youth soccer tournament targeting the Hispanic community, to be held on May 24-26 at the AB Brown Soccer Complex in Riverside, Calif. This year, Copa LA will feature more than 150 teams and over 15,000 spectators are expected to turn out and support the teams throughout the three day tournament.
The inaugural Cruze to the Cup Futsal Tournament will take place on June 14-15 at the LA Galaxy Soccer Center in Torrance, Calif. and is open to all Under-12 Boys and Under-12 Girls teams. As the presenting partner of Copa LA and Cruze to the Cup, Chevrolet is offering the winning teams from the different age groups a once in a lifetime experience. To register, please visit lagalaxy.com/cruzetothecup.
The champion from each age group from the Cruze to the Cup Futsal Tournament and Copa LA will receive tickets to attend the Galaxy's match against Manchester United at the Rose Bowl on July 23rd. In addition, each winning team will participate in a clinic led by the LA Galaxy's Camps and Clinics group with a special appearance by LA Galaxy and Manchester United representatives.
Galaxy Academy coaches will award the most valuable players from the clinic a chance to be invited to the LA Galaxy Academy for a one-week trial (six kids total).
The Galaxy and Chevrolet will also collaborate later in the year to present Cruze LA Driven by Chevrolet, a unique branded content series that will document LA Galaxy players off the field and will promote a sweepstakes where supporters will have the chance to win special VIP experiences, meet & greets, signed Galaxy merchandise and more.
Chevrolet, which kicks off its seven-year shirt sponsorship with Manchester United on July 1, will stream the Chevrolet FC Cup free online at www.chevroletfc.com.
Individual tickets, starting at $35, are available for purchase via Ticketmaster. Fans can receive discounts on their seats by purchasing an LA Galaxy group or multi-game plan or by becoming a Season Ticket Member.
