HIDALGO, Texas - Hidalgo La Fiera were victors in a contest in which featured 41 penalty minutes in their victory over the Monterrey Flash by a final score of 7-1 on Saturday night at the Saturday night at the State Farm Arena.
The victory for La Fiera (10-2) keeps them in second place of the Central Division of the PASL standings only separated by only half of game. Hidalgo is one of four teams in the PASL to remain undefeated at home with a record of 5-0.
Hidalgo got on the board first in the first quarter when Carlos Farias slotted in a pass Joel Perez only a minute into the game which put them ahead 1-0.
La Fiera would add to its lead in the first quarter when Robson De Souza made it 2-0 on a Farias pass on a power play goal which was one of five goals.
Hidalgo would add another goal in the first when Perez received a Farias pass on a breakaway goal that made it 3-0 after one quarter of play.
In the second quarter, La Fiera would score a fourth goal by Mark Ughy which set up by a Farias pass on a power play which made it 4-0.
Monterrey (11-2) would score a consolation goal on a pass by Genioni Martinez pass that Edgar Martinez would slot home the goal late in the second quarter to make it 4-1 at the break.
Hidalgo would score three power play goals in the second half which were highlighted by a Erick Flores brace and a Ughy goal to wrap up the scoring a 7-1.
Brownsville Goal keeper Juan Gamboa notched win number 10 of the season while making six saves for La Fiera. La Fiera went 5-of-14 on the power play.
Hidalgo La Fiera will continue a three game home on Sunday, January 26th when they host the Saltillo Rancho Seco at State Farm Arena with the kickoff set for 7:35 pm.
