Fury Rally Falls Short Against Sockers Again

Ontario Fury News Release

The Ontario Fury, Driven by Mark Christopher Chevrolet, lost a hard-fought battle against the San Diego Sockers 6-5 Sunday afternoon at Citizens Business Bank Arena.

The two teams battled the entire game, with the teams trading goals in the first half until a late burst from San Diego gave the four-time defending champions a 4-2 halftime lead.

But Ontario answered to start the second half. As Anthony Medina sat in the penalty box serving a Sockers' penalty for receiving their third yellow card, Luis Piffer headed the rebound of a Majell Aterado shot home to make the score 4-3.

A breakdown by the Fury, however, opened the door for the Sockers. Kraig Chiles and Eddie Velez scored on perfect strikes 13 seconds apart late in the third quarter to give the Sockers a 6-3 lead it would not relinquish.

Ontario rallied in the fourth, as Tino Nunez scored his second goal of the game, thanks to a flick pass from Jhonatan Bravo. Nunez returned the favor with 4:29 remaining, as Bravo converted his second goal of the year.

A late push by the Fury was repelled by the Sockers defense and goaltender Chris Toth, who had 12 saves on the night. Ontario's Sanaldo was credited with six saves in the defeat.
