LA Galaxy News Release
Carson, CA (Friday, June 11, 2004) - The Los Angeles Galaxy, Galaxy Foundation and several Southland individuals, businesses and community organizations have collaborated to make the Saturday, June 12, 2004 "Kids Day Out" - a special day of Galaxy soccer for underprivileged children - at The Home Depot Center in Carson, California.
"We are extremely proud of the number of businesses and groups that have joined us in this truly worthwhile endeavor," said Los Angeles Galaxy President and General Manager Doug Hamilton, also President of the Galaxy Foundation. "We look forward to giving a great deal of joy to so many children who might not otherwise have the chance to come to a game."
Through the "Kids Day Out" program, the Galaxy called upon the individuals, businesses and civic organizations in Southern California and across the country to purchase group tickets for this Saturday's game against the Chicago Fire. The purchased tickets were then donated to several local youth organizations and charities.
Additionally, the Galaxy Foundation matched the number of tickets purchased in order to provide twice as many children the ability to attend Saturday's match between the first place teams in MLS' Eastern and Western Conferences.
As of Friday, June 10, 4,000 tickets have been purchased by those wishing to be a part of the program. When added to the tickets donated by the Galaxy Foundation, it means more than 9,000 children will be given the opportunity to watch the Galaxy-Fire game at The Home Depot Center.
In all, 210 sponsors donated tickets for "Kids Day Out". For the complete list of donors, please see the table on the following pages.
The Los Angeles Galaxy return to The Home Depot Center on Saturday, June 12 at 1 pm against Ante Razov and the 2003 Eastern Conference Champion Chicago Fire. The match will air live on ESPN2's Radio Shack Soccer Saturday. For more information or to purchase tickets, please call the Galaxy at 1-877-3GALAXY.
