Montreal Alouettes News Release

Montreal, October 8, 2014 - Alouettes linebacker Kyries Hebert will once again renew his close involvement with the community on Thursday, October 30 when the Ky Cares Foundation hosts its annual 'Touched' event at Galerie203 located at 229 Notre-Dame West in Montreal.

All proceeds raised from the event will be donated to the Cedars Cancer Foundation and the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation. Tickets purchased in advance will be sold for $50 ($55 at the door), and they include hors d'oeuvres as well as a night of entertainment beginning at 7:30 p.m. Given that Halloween is the night after the event, the theme of the evening will be that of a masquerade party. Masks will be sold on site.

Catherine Verdon-Diamond of Breakfast Television on City TV will be your host for the evening, one which will include a number of current Alouettes players in attendance, including Chip Cox and Nicolas Boulay. It is a great way for Alouettes fans to meet their favourite players all while lending a helping hand to good cause. A variety of unique pro sports memorabilia will also be available to bid on via a silent auction. An array of other guests will also be present, including Dr. David Fleiszer, one of Montreal's most prominent breast cancer surgeons, as well as Nalie Augustin, breast cancer survivor. Shahara, Thea Dela-Cruiz, and other performers will handle the entertainment for the night.

"When I founded the Ky Cares Foundation, it was to enrich the lives of young people. Two years ago, we also added this important initiative to help those touched by cancer victims," explained Hebert, the Alouettes linebacker who won the Tom Pate Memorial Award last season, awarded annually to a CFL player with outstanding sportsmanship and someone who has made a significant contribution to his team, his community and Association. "I hope that I can count on all to come out and give their support to an event that holds a special place in my heart, as well as all those whose lives have been affected by cancer."

October is breast cancer awareness month and, as such, the Alouettes in collaboration with the CFL will take part in a series of initiatives to support the cause. On October 18 and 24, the Alouettes will adorn CFL Pink-branded apparel and accessories to help tackle women's cancers during specially-themed CFL Pink games. Between October 17 and October 25, the team will be partnering with a local women's cancer charity to raise funds and awareness for the cause. The Alouettes support Kyries' initiative which takes place during breast cancer awareness month.

Tickets for 'Touched' are available by calling 514-787-2521, or at the door on the night of the event at Galerie203.
