Krunk schedule 'one last tryout'

September 20, 2005 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Charlotte Krunk News Release

Charlotte, NC. ABA Charlotte Krunk owner Duane "Spyder" Hughes has decided to hold 'one last tryout' for the professional basketball team. It will be on October 15th at the Naomi Drenan Recreation Center located at 750 Beal Street in Charlotte. The tryout will start at 10am. The phone number there is 704 365 1265.

According to Hughes, "There are a few reasons that we are holding this tryout. One, I am receiving an amazing amount of email inquiries in regards to the opportunity to play for us. I am humbled by this. Another reason is that I was just coming on board for the first tryout in May and it was being held north of the city in nearby Concorde. The second one held was just south in nearby Gastonia. This final tryout is IN the city of Charlotte. The city runs the Cricket and the rec center where we will hold the last tryout. The City departments have been great to us. We are truly fortunate. And because we are truly fortunate, we are donating a portion of the proceeds to help those with kids displaced to the Charlotte area by hurricane Katrina."

He added, "We understand it is a heartfelt but minimal gesture given the enormous task that is ahead of the victims of the hurrican, but hopefully it will inspire others to pitch in and have a snowball effect from there."

"From a basketball standpoint, we have several potential prospects we are about to sign, but there are four or five spots available on the team. Charlotte Krunk tryout camp shirts will be given to all and sales of those shirts will continue all season to continue to help raise money for hurricane victims as $5 for every shirt sold will go to the Red Cross relief fund."
