Krunk announce season opener
October 25, 2005 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Charlotte Krunk News Release
Charlotte, NC. The ABA Charlotte Krunk professional basketball team will make its home opener debut versus the Mississippi Stingers on Thanksgiving Weekend, Friday, November 25th with special musical guest, Hip-Hop Superstar, Mike Jones, at the 10,500 seat Cricket Arena, at 2700 E. Independence Blvd in Charlotte. Also, on that same weekend, Gospel icon and perennial Grammy nominee Dr. Ben Tankard will perform when the Krunk plays against the Nashville Rhythm after an inspiring opening by Wm. "Briss" Brister. Tickets are on sale and are available at the Cricket Arena box office or Ticketmaster. Surprise local and rising new artists will be added and announced for both events shortly.
Krunk owner and rap pioneer/producer Duane "Spyder" Hughes was pleased with landing such diverse talent. "My entertainment director, All Pizarro and I, work very closely with Peter Seitz of American Talent Agency. Together, we are platforming what is shaping up to be a very exciting experience for the fans of Charlotte basketball. Dr. Tankard and I have a similar love of basketball and he was very gracious to make himself available during the Holiday time for the great city of Charlotte. You can't get any hotter than Mike Jones is right now and he is also giving up his holiday time to entertain the fans of the Krunk."
Hughes added, "I am humbled by their decision to do this during the holiday. I don't want to spill the news on all fhe goodies, but along with ABA Entertainment and its director Angela Rizzi, we promise to keep it coming like this throughout the season. I am working with Ms. Rizzi now to bring in a powerful act when we play the Florida Pit Bulls on December 13th. We will then follow that up with a chance for a couple of lucky fans to go to Miami, courtesy of the Charlotte Krunk on January 31st when we play the rubber match against the Pit Bulls. It's a great rivalry in the making and we have a lot of respect for Tim Hardaway and that organization. This is what the "new" ABA is all about and we want to be the flagship team in the ABA and so do the Florida Pit Bulls. So, we're battling on the court and at the box office. I love it. And so will fans of the ABA."
