Kristen Hamilton Named NWSL Player of the Month for July

Chicago - Kristen Hamilton of the North Carolina Courage has been voted July Player of the Month of the 2019 season by the NWSL Media Association. The forward scored five goals and had two assists, leading the Courage to a 3-1-0 record this month. The Courage are currently second in the standings with 25 total points, only one point behind first-place Portland Thorns FC.

Hamilton was named Player of the Week twice in July, also receiving the honor in Week 12. Four of her goals came in a single match on July 5 against the Houston Dash. She assisted in the next game on the game-winning goal in a shutout win against Seattle. She then notched an assist and a goal in a win against Utah. Hamilton is second in the league in goals and tied for sixth in assists.

Chicago Red Stars forward Sam Kerr finished second in Player of the Month voting. Midfielder Vanessa DiBernardo, also from the Chicago Red Stars, finished third in votes.

The North Carolina Courage return to action at home on Friday, August 2 at 7:00 p.m. to play the Washington Spirit. The Women's International Champions Cup will take place Sahlen's Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park later in the month on August 15 and 18.
