Nashville SC Players and Coaches Help Mentor Young Athletes at Tennessee United Summer Camp

HENDERSONVILLE - With the Fall youth soccer season approaching, a group of young soccer players are getting a special camp experience this week in Hendersonville.

Nashville Soccer Club players and coaches have been out in Hendersonville this week to help coach Tennessee United Soccer Club players at its preseason camp. On Tuesday night, Alan Winn, Kosuke Kimura, Michael Reed and Assistant Coach Brett Jacobs helped coach kids ages 15-18. They also signed autographs and took photos with the U9-U14 camp participants afterwards.

Eddie Carvacho, TUSC Director of Coaching for the U13-U19 levels, was thrilled to have local professional athletes on hand to provide insight and to act as role models for the young players.

"When you look at soccer, we're looking for these young players to get any opportunity to get exposure to the game to the higher levels, so it's fantastic that we have a professional team in town," Carvacho said. "But then it makes it even more special, and it makes it a more intimate when you're able to bring players, because that's how young players find their heroes or find players they want to follow. That's a great way to connect the players with our youth players. It's excellent that the guys are here."

Helping coach at the camp brought back a lot of memories for Winn, who grew up going to camps like these in Texas. Although, he was impressed by the sheer size of this group of kids in Hendersonville.

"There's a lot of kids that have a lot of potential," Winn said. "It's good to see the community and how much they're into soccer these days. When I was younger, there weren't a lot of kids at these camps. To see this many kids so involved and wanting to play soccer, it's such a bright thing for the future, so I'm excited."

Nashville SC continues to connect with young athletes around Nashville and Middle Tennessee. For those kids, the benefit of having a professional club in the area that can provide role models and a team to root for is monumental.

"Seeing these guys having a presence here in the area, it's really giving our kids something to aspire to as well as support," said Ally Morrell, TUSC Director of Coaching for the U5-U12 divisions. "A lot of our kids come and see the boys every weekend, but to see them in the flesh now, see them take the time to come out and spend time with them, it's really given them a great role model opportunity."
