Fort Wayne Komets News Release
Fort Wayne, IN - The Komets successfully launched the home portion of 2009-10 with their sixth straight home-opener win 2-1 over Bloomington Friday night. A sell-out crowd of 10,511 was on hand becoming the eighth straight 10,000-plus crowd to attend a Fort Wayne Komet home opener. The Komets are unbeaten in regulation in 15 straight home openers for a 13-0-2 record since September 30, 1995 when the Komets started the unbeaten string with a 7-3 win over Houston in front of a then sell-out crowd of 8,103.
Rookies Tomas Klempa (RW) and Kaleigh Schrock (RW) each scored their first pro goals to give the Komets the win Friday. Saturday the Komets upended the Mallards in Quad City 3-1 as rookie Travis Whitehead (C) scored his first pro goal and Matt Syroczynski (LW) netted a pair. Saturday's game was the first Komet visit to Quad City since March 2, 2007 when the Komets clipped the Mallards 2-1.

The two wins and four points for the second week of the season moves the Komets into a first-place tie with Port Huron going into week three of 2009-10.
This week the Komets will skate at Bloomington Friday before the Muskegon Lumberjacks make their first of six trips to Fort Wayne Saturday for Halloween night at 7:30.
