Icehawks Offer Ticket Discount For Halloween Game

October 27, 2009 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Port Huron Icehawks News Release

PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Icehawks will hold a special Halloween celebration this Saturday when they face the Dayton Gems at McMorran Arena.

The game is set for a late 8 p.m. start in order to accommodate trick or treaters. Kids in costume will receive a ticket for just $5 and will be invited to participate in an on-ice costume parade. Kids will also go home with a free treat bag.

"The fun doesn't have to stop when trick or treating is done," Icehawks Director of Operations Jake Wesolek said. "Bring your whole family to the rink for great hockey and Halloween fun."

The game is the only one the Icehawks face this weekend and marks their first meeting with the Gems, who joined the league this summer. The Icehawks (3-1-0-0) are currently tied for first place in the league with the Fort Wayne Komets with six points and a .750 winning percentage. The Gems (2-2-1-0) are close behind in third place with five points and a .500 winning percentage.

Winning Streak: The Icehawks kicked off the 2009-10 season with a three game winning streak. This streak came to an end on Sunday with a loss in Muskegon. The winning streak is in stark contrast to last season, when the Icehawks lost the first four games of the season. It also marks the first time that a Port Huron team won its first three contests since the 2002-03 season.

On A Tear: Left wing Tab Lardner and center Kris Vernarsky have both tallied points in all four games the Icehawks have played this season. Lardner is riding a four game point streak (1g, 5a) and assist streak, and Vernarsky is on a four game point streak (2g, 4a).

Hat Trick: Icehawks right wing Cory Stillman recorded a hat trick in Friday's win versus Flint, marking the second consecutive game in which a Port Huron player scored three goals. Mike Kinnie also had a hat trick in the season opener versus Fort Wayne. Prior to this, the Icehawks had seen three hat tricks since the team's inception in the 2007-08 season. For their efforts, both Stillman and Kinnie took home IHL Player of the Week honors.

Upcoming Appearances:

Tuesday, Nov. 3, 6 p.m. - 7 p.m., Icehawks Hour at Buffalo Wild Wings - Players and coaches will answer questions from fans and break down the past week's games and upcoming matchups.

Wednesday, Nov. 4, 7 p.m., Charity Basketball Game at St. Mary's School in St. Clair - Icehawks players will take on St. Mary's eighth graders to raise funds for the school.

Ticket Packages: The Icehawks are offering two great discount ticket packages for home games during the 2009-10 season. Family Four Packs are available now for all home games, while Deuces Wild Packages are on sale for all weekday games.

Family Four Packs include four tickets, four hot dogs and four small fountain drinks for just $44 and are available for any 2009-10 home game. For just $22, the Deuces Wild Package includes two tickets in the Attack Zone, two beers or soft drinks and two tickets to a raffle for great prizes. Both packages are available now at the Icehawks office.
