
Komets trim four and add three to camp roster

Fort Wayne, IN - The Komets announced Sunday the release of four players from training camp and the addition of three to the preseason roster.
Released from training camp were T.J. Schneider (RW), Jeff Wheeler (LW), Vincent Zaore (D) and Zach Gieszler (D).
Added to the preseason roster were forwards Travis Whitehead and Jimmy Bonneau and defenseman Bobby Phillips.
Whitehead, 25, has been participating in the AHL's Norfolk training camp and completed four seasons of NCAA play appearing in 25 games with Buffalo State last season.
Bonneau, 24, is a six-foot three-inch, 220-pound winger and is coming to Fort Wayne from Rochester's AHL training camp. He was selected by Montreal in the eighth round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft and has appeared in AHL stints with Hamilton, Portland and Rochester. 2009-10 is his fifth pro year.
Phillips, 23, will be arriving in Fort Wayne after skating in the Lake Erie (AHL) and Johnstown (ECHL) training camps. The six-foot, three-inch, 210-pound defenseman completed four years of NCAA play at Mercyhurst College last year. Phillips' dad, Bob, is a former IHL'er and skated with the Komets during 1981-82.
With the four cuts and three additions, the Komet preseason roster stands at 26 players as camp enters it's final week before the official start of the season.
The Komets will open the 2009-10 IHL campaign Friday, Oct. 16 at Dayton at 7:30pm. Fort Wayne's home opener is slated for Friday, Oct. 23 against the Bloomington PrairieThunder at 8pm.

Single game ticket prices for 2009-10 will remain the same as last season, ranging from $8.00 to $20.00 for seniors and adults and starting at $6.00 for children.
Komets go 2-1-0 in preseason games.....The Komets completed their exhibition game schedule with a 2-1-0 record. The Komets opened the preseason slate with a 4-2 home win over the Dayton Gems Wednesday.
