Komets to face IceHogs in Semifinals

Fort Wayne, IN — The Fort Wayne Komets will face the Rockford IceHogs in a best-of-7 UHL semifinals series starting this Friday night at 8:00 in Fort Wayne.

The series will played under a 2-2-1-1-1 format with the first 2 games in Fort Wayne Friday and Saturday nights before switching to Rockford next Wednesday, May 4 and Friday May 6. If necessary, game 5 will be played in Fort Wayne Sunday, May 8. Game 6 is slated for Monday, May 9 at Rockford and if there is a game 7 it will be skated at the coliseum in Fort Wayne on Tuesday, May 10 (see schedule below).

Tickets for the Komet's home playoff games this Friday and Saturday are on sale at the Coliseum Ticket Office and online at www.ticketmaster.com.

The Komets eliminated the Missouri River Otters 4 games to 2 in the first round of the UHL Colonial Cup playoffs while Rockford knocked out Kalamazoo 4 games to 2. The winner of the Fort Wayne-Rockford series will play the winner of the Muskegon-Danbury series for the Colonial Cup Championship.

The Komet-Rockford series will be the 84th all-time playoff series in the history of the Fort Wayne franchise (72 IHL playoff series). The 2005 post-season is the 5th for the Komets since joining the UHL in 1999 and the 45th playoff campaign in the history of the Fort Wayne franchise (40 IHL playoff seasons). To date, the Komets have appeared in 11 UHL playoff series (8-3) and skated 47 UHL playoff games (28-19) including 24 at home (16-8) and 23 on the road (12-11).
