Rockford IceHogs News Release

Rockford, Ill.- The United Hockey League announced Wednesday that Rockford IceHogs goaltender Michel Robinson was named the 2004-05 Southern Sports Supply Best Goaltender. The award was voted on by coaches, general managers and media members from each of the UHL's 14 member clubs.

Robinson is the first IceHogs goalie to receive the honor. The second year pro broke several IceHogs franchise records this season and had an overall record of 33-22-9 with a 2.47 goals against average, .915 save percentage and he was tied for the UHL league lead with seven shutouts. Robinson was also named starting goaltender for Team Mountain Dew in the 2004-05 UHL All-Star Classic in Adirondack.

The Montreal, Quebec native broke franchise records for wins, goals against average, save percentage, shutouts, appearances (66) and minutes played (3816:35) in the regular season. Robinson also accomplished the rare goalie feat of scoring a goal in a game when he buried an empty netter against the Fort Wayne Komets on Wednesday, December 29. He became only the fourth UHL goalie to score a goal.

The Hogs puck stopper ranked first in the UHL in shutouts, minutes, appearances, second in wins, third in saves (1683) and fifth in save percentage. Robinson made a complete turnaround from a season ago when he skated for the Greenville Grrrowl (ECHL) where he won seven games in 44 appearances.

Robinson also received three promotions to the American Hockey League's Milwaukee Admirals this season. In his only start for the Ads, Robinson picked up a win over the St. John's Maple Leafs. Robinson was named Southern Sports Supply Goalie of Week for Week #6 as well during the 04-05 campaign.

Next Home Game: Wednesday, May 4 vs. Fort Wayne Komets. Game time is 7:05 p.m. Game Three of the Colonial Cup Semi-Finals commences at the MetroCentre. Season ticket holders must use playoff ticket #4 for admittance. For tickets, call (815) 968-5222.
