Komets release seven from camp

Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets announced Monday that seven players have been released from training camp. The seven players released are as follows:

1. J.S. Richard (C)
2. Martin Aubin (LW)
3. Drew O'Connell (F)
4. Charlie Levin (D)
5. Carl Michaelson (D)
6. Chris Cote (D)
7. Daniel Ljung (G)

Twenty-three players remain on the Komet's preseason roster.

Komets sweep exhibition slate.....the Komets won all 3 exhibition games played in preseason action. Wednesday night (10/4) the Komets stopped the visiting Port Huron Flags 2-1 in a shootout. Friday (10/6) the Komets blitzed the Kalamazoo Wings at the Memorial Coliseum 8-2. Saturday (10/7) the Komets completed the preseason tune-ups with a 4-3 win at Kalamazoo. K.J. Voorhees (RW, 3gp, 3g, 1a) and Matt Syroczynski (F, 2gp, 3g, 1a) topped the Komets with 4 points each. Goatenders Kevin St. Pierre (2gp, 1-0-0, 2.66 gaa, .909 spct.), Dan McWhinney (2gp, 1-0-0, 1.92 gaa, .943 spct.) and Daniel Ljung (1gp, 1-0-0, 0.00 gaa, 1.000 spct) shared time in the Komet net. The Komets special teams were 6/19 (31.6%) on the power play and 17/19 (89.5%) on the penalty kill.

Komets open in Rockford.....the Komets will open the 2006-07 campaign in Rockford this Friday night, Oct. 13, at 8:30. The Komets will then travel to Bloomington for the first ever PrairieThunder home opener Saturday night, Oct. 14, at 8:05. Then the Komets will return to Fort Wayne to prepare for their home opener Saturday, Oct. 21 against the Quad City Mallards at 7:30pm. -2006-07 Komet schedule-

Komet Hockey on WOWO.....most of the Komet games will be broadcast on WOWO Radio AM 1190 this year with Bob Chase at the Fort Wayne microphone for his 54th consecutive season. Again this year, some games will be aired on WKJG/ESPN Radio AM 1380 as an alternative when conflicts occur. All games aired on radio will also be available via the internet at Comcast KometCast at www.komets.com.
