Fort Wayne, IN --- Two shutouts and a hat trick highlighted the Komet's 14th week of the 2003-04 campaign. The Komets improved to 26-11-3 on the season after taking all 3 games and increased their win streak to 5 games while increasing their road streak to 6 games. In addition, the Komets are unbeaten in regulation 9 consecutive games and are 10-1-1 in the last dozen games played.

Wednesday the Komets whitewashed the Beacons in Port Huron 2-0 on goals by Colin Chaulk and David-Alexandre Beauregard. Kevin St. Pierre got the shutout stopping 24 shots.

Friday the Komets began a 2-game visit at Adirondack upsetting the IceHawks 7-0 in their first meeting of the season. Dustin Virag and Chaulk each tallied a pair while Dan Price, Adam Lewis and Beauregard each scored goals. St. Pierre celebrated his 100th UHL career appearance with his 2nd straight shutout stopping 22 IceHawk shots for the win. It was St. Pierre's 4th shutout of the season, 7th UHL shutout and 16th career shutout.

Saturday the Komets finished their only trip to Adirondack of the season with a 5-1 win. St. Pierre was able to hold off the IceHawks until the 13:13 mark of the 3rd period giving the goaltender 189:01 consecutive shutout minutes and a new Komet record of the longest shutout streak in a UHL season by a goaltender. It was also a new Komet team record streak and UHL team record streak of consecutive shutout minutes in a single season. The old UHL team record was 183:21 set by coach Greg Puhalski's Port Huron Border Cats in the 1998-99 season. In addition to the shutout, Bobby Stewart registerd his first hat trick of the season (2nd UHL, 4th career) while Lewis and Kelly Perrault also added marks.

This week the Komets conclude their 4-game road tour with a trip to Missouri Thursday before returning home to host Elmira Friday and Missouri Saturday at the coliseum.

Milestones: Defenseman Kevin Schmidt skated his 200th consecutive game as a Komet Wednesday, Jan. 21 in the Komet's 2-0 win at Port Huron.....winger Bobby Stewart dished his 200th career assist at Port Huron Jan. 21.....goaltender Kevin St. Pierre appeared in his 100th UHL career game Friday, Jan. 23 at Adirondack.....winger David-Alexandre Beauregard dished his 200th career assist at Adirondack Jan. 24.

U-Toppers: Kevin Kotyluk continues to lead with 41 minor penalties..... David-Alexandre Beauregard leads with a shooting percentage of .218 (22/101).....defenseman Kevin Schmidt has a league-high +29.....Kevin St. Pierre leads UHL goaltenders with a 2.04 goals-against average and .923 save percentage.....Kelly Perrault leads UHL defensemen with 15 goals, 44 points, 6 power play goals, 24 power play points (T-Martin Woods, Flint) and 147 shots.....Ryan Coole leads UHL defensemen with 35 minor penalties.....Komets have the best home power play in the league with a 26.7.0% rating (28/105).

Holding the lead....the Komets are 18-0-1 when leading after the first period and 21-0-2 when leading after 2 periods of play.

Season Ticket Exchange Night #3 Friday.....it's the third season ticket exchange night this Friday, Jan. 30, when the Komets host the Elmira Jackals at 8:05pm. Season ticket holders can exchange any unused season ticket from previous Komet home games this season for tickets to this Friday's Komet home game.

Marathon Night Friday.....this Friday night is Marathon Night again as the Komets host Elmira. As part of Old Time Komet Hockey night, Friday night Komet games start at 8pm and Komet fans can get Fill Up cards at any participating Marathon location around the Fort Wayne area for "buy one, get one free" ticket offers.
