
Komets Continue to Share Turner Conference Lead

Fort Wayne, IN -- The Komets split the four games played for week 17 of 2011-12 (2-2-0) to improve to 29-15-2 and 60 points after 46 games. The Komets continue tied with Evansville (28-13-4, 45gp) at the top of the Turner Conference with 20 games and six weeks remaining in the regular season slate.
Week in Review -The Komets began the week clipping the IceMen at Evansville 4-3 Wednesday to take a commanding 7-3-0 series lead. Friday the Komets pleased a Comcast Report Card Night home crowd of 9,886 with a 4-1 win over the visiting Quad City Mallards. It was Fort Wayne's fifth straight win over the Mallards to lead the series 5-1-0. Saturday the Komets were shut out in Dayton 5-0 for their first loss in five visits to Dayton this year, snapping a four-game win string. Sunday the Komets were edged 4-3 at Bloomington for their third straight loss to the Blaze.
Komet players of the week -Center Colin Chaulk had points in three of the four games played and led the Komets for the week with three goals, four assists and seven points. Right winger Chris Auger also had points in three games scoring Wednesday's game winner at Evansville and adding five assists for a six-point week. Left wing Artem Podshendyalov also had points in three games posting a goal and four assists for five points. Jamie Milam netted three goals to lead Komet defensemen with 15 goals and center Brett Smith scored a pair and added an assist for three points and leads Fort Wayne with 32 assists and 49 points. Goaltender Nick Boucher registered two wins in three appearances stopping 82 of 90 shots for a 2.70 goals-against average and .911 save percentage for the week.
Milestones -Komet center Smith netted a goal and an assist in Wednesday's win at Evansville to reach 400 career points. Defenseman Brent Henley skated his 100th Fort Wayne career game Wednesday at Evansville. Defenseman Milam scored his 100th career goal Sunday at Bloomington.
Career year -Winger Auger has registered 18 goals, 19 assists and 37 points after 37 games to eclipse his totals of last year's career debut of 14 goals, 11 assists and 25 points in 42 games. Right wing Kaleigh Schrock bested his career high of 11 assists in 2009-10 with his 12th assist of the season Sunday at Bloomington.
Friday night Marathon Nights -- Friday nights are Marathon Nights at Komet home games. Fans can take advantage of a buy-one-get-one-free ticket offer with three fill-ups when the Komets host the Bloomington Blaze this Friday at 8pm. Fill Up Cards are available at participating Marathon stations.
GAMES THIS WEEK
- Tuesday at Bloomington-- Tuesday night the Komets will complete a pair of games at Bloomington during their current stay. Sunday the Komets stumbled 4-3 in the first of what will be four meetings out of five games for the two teams. Tuesday's outing will be the eighth meeting out of 11 this year. The Komets trail the series 3-4-0 after dropping the last three games played against the Blaze. After Sunday's win over the Komets, Bloomington (17-24-5, 39 points) is riding a five-game point streak (2-0-3) into Tuesday night's affair.
- Bloomington visits Friday -- The Komets will face the Blaze for the third straight game Friday when Bloomington visits for an 8pm ET faceoff at the Memorial Coliseum. The Komets are 3-1-0 at the Coliseum after four Blaze visits. Bloomington snagged a 2-1 win out of Fort Wayne on their last visit Jan. 13 and have only lost four games in regulation out of 12 since.
- Allen makes Fort Wayne debut Saturday -- Fort Wayne fans will get their first chance to see the Americans from Allen, Texas, Saturday at 7:30pm ET. Entering the week the Americans (27-11-8, 62 points) trail first-place Wichita by only two points in the Berry Conference and overall in the CHL. Allen is 4-1-1 in their last six games and 8-2-1 in their last 11. Saturday's match is the only meeting of the season between the Komets and Americans. Allen is coming off a split week of 1-1-1. The Americans will host Texas Tuesday and travel to Dayton Friday before arriving in Fort Wayne Saturday.
- Komets at Bloomington Sunday, again -- The Komets will finish a stretch of four out of five games against Bloomington when they make their last appearance of the season at U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington, Illinois Sunday for a 5:05pm ET faceoff. The Blaze will skate at Dayton Saturday before welcoming Fort Wayne Sunday.

INC Soundoff with the Komets Monday nights -- The Komets, I ndiana's News Center and title sponsor PHP present a live weekly televised sports program on Monday nights at 7:30 on WPTA TV 21 Alive. The half-hour show is televised live from Wrigley Field Bar and Grill each week with INC's Tommy Schoegler as host and will feature highlights, interviews and call-ins as Komet players and personnel serve as co-hosts.
TONIGHT, Feb. 13, Komet general manager David Franke and defenseman Dustin Molle will be special guests.
60th Anniversary Komet Hockey on WOWO -- The Komets and WOWO Radio v:shapes"_x0000_s1028"> News-Talk 1190 AM have partnered once again for 2011-12. Broadcaster Bob Chase will call the action for his 59th consecutive season radio-rinkside. All games broadcast on radio, home and away, can be heard online at Xfinity KometCast. Most games will be broadcast on WOWO Radio News-Talk 1190 AM with ESPN Radio AM 1380 as an alternative when scheduling conflicts occur.
