
Komar Delivers 3rd Consecutive Quality Start as Missions Win in Frisco

SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Missions found themselves back in the win column on Thursday night. After scoring twice in the first inning, the Frisco RoughRiders scored three runs of their own in the bottom of the first inning. San Antonio completed the comeback attempt with three runs across the seventh and eighth inning. Brandon Komar records his third consecutive quality start and Lake Bachar converts the save as the Missions win by a final score of 5-3.
Jack Leiter was the starting pitcher for the RoughRiders. The Missions offense took an early lead of the Rangers #1 prospect. Fernando Tatis Jr. had a scheduled day off and is expected to play on Friday. Domingo Leyba, Tirso Ornelas, and Yorman Rodriguez drew three consecutive walks to load the bases at the start of the game. Juan Fernandez hit a single and scored Leyba and Ornelas. The Missions took a 2-0 lead.
Brandon Komar was the starting pitcher for the Missions. The RoughRiders recovered and took the lead in the bottom half of the first inning. Jonathan Ornelas began the inning with a base hit before being thrown out trying to steal second base. Luisangel Acuna reached base on a single and Blaine Crim drew a walk. Justin Foscue drove in Acuna with a base hit to left field. Kellen Strahm drove in Crim with a base hit to right field. Foscue scored as Jax Biggers flew into a sacrifice double play. Frisco took a 3-2 lead.
It became a pitcher's duel from the second inning until the seventh inning. Komar recorded his third consecutive quality start as he finished the night six innings and three earned runs. He walked one batter while striking out four batters. For Leiter, he lasted 5.2 innings while allowing two runs on three hits and striking out seven batters.
The Missions regained the lead in the top of the seventh inning. Facing Justin Slaten, Matthew Acosta drew a walk and advanced to second base on a sacrifice bunt from Ripken Reyes. Leyba singled and advanced Acosta to third base. Acosta scored on a double steal as he stole home and Leyba stole second base. Leyba came around to score on a double from Rodriguez. San Antonio took a 4-3 lead.
San Antonio added an insurance run in the top of the eighth inning. Fernandez drew a walk and advanced to second base on a sacrifice bunt from Jack Stronach. Connor Kaiser and Acosta drew back-to-back walks to load the bases. Fernandez scored as Reyes grounded into a force out. The lead improved to 5-3.
Osvaldo Hernandez walked one batter during a scoreless seventh inning. Felix Minjarez walked one batter and struck out one batter during a scoreless eighth inning of work. Lake Bachar converted the save as he retired all three batters in the bottom of the ninth inning.

With the win, San Antonio improves to 16-20 (2nd half), 54-49 (overall) on the season
