
Kolomatis Commits to Merrimack College

KEARNEY, Neb. - Recently acquired Tri-City Storm defenseman Dan Kolomatis has committed to the Merrimack College Warriors for the Fall of 2011.
Kolomatis, an NHL prospect this season, attended the New Jersey Devils Rookie Camp this summer as an undrafted prospect. Last season for the Chicago Steel, the 6-foot-1, 180-pound defenseman had eight goals, nine assists and 75 penalty minutes in 55 games.
"It was the right fit for me to further my hockey career and get an excellent education," said Kolomatis, a 19-year old entering the season. "They play in a tough and competitive collegiate hockey conference and the coaching fit into my style of play."
Merrimack College is a NCAA Division I college hockey program located in North Andover, Mass and competes in Hockey East with the likes of Boston College, Boston Univ., Univ. of New Hampshire, and Univ. of Maine.
Kolomatis, a native of Basking Ridge, NJ, is glad to get the college commitment over with so he can focus on the season ahead.
"I look forward in being a veteran and leader with the Storm this season. We have a great group of guys here and it will be great to come together for the ultimate goal."

With Kolomatis' commitment, Tri-City enters the Fall Classic with 11 players who are committed to NCAA Division I schools. Tucker Brockett (Princeton University), Bill Eiserman (UMASS-Lowell), Chris Eiserman (UMASS-Lowell), Chris Joyaux (Ohio State Univ.), Cody Murphy (Miami University-Ohio), Dominic Panetta (Farris State Univ.), Rick Pinkston (Dartmouth College), Zack Rall (Univ. of Alaska-Anchorage), Shane Walsh (Univ. of Massachusetts), and Brian Ward (Dartmouth College).
