Kollar's Strong Outing Not Enough in Sunday Series Finale

SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Missions concluded their six-game series with the Midland RockHounds on Sunday afternoon. The offense was held to one base hit while being shutout for the 12th time this season. Jared Kollar allowed one unearned run across 5.2 innings of work. In their final regular season road game of the year, the Missions dropped the series finale in Midland by a final score of 3-0.

Jared Kollar was the starting pitcher for the Missions. The right-hander had to pitch out of trouble in the bottom of the first inning. Kollar issued a leadoff walk to Cooper Bowman. After retiring the next batter, Daniel Susac singled to put two runners on base. A fly out and a ground out ended the frame.

The RockHounds had another runner in scoring position during the second inning. Cameron Masterman drew a one-out walk. After recording the second out, Kollar allowed a single to Jonny Butler. With runners on the corners and two outs, Bowman flew out to end the inning.

For the second consecutive inning, Midland would get a runner to third base without scoring. Drew Swift began the inning by reaching on an error. A balk and a wild pitch allowed Swift to move to third base. The right-hander struck out the next two batters. With the go-ahead run still at third, and two outs, Shane McGuire flew out to end the inning.

Ryan Cusick was the starting pitcher for the RockHounds. The right-hander cruised through the first four innings. Cusick allowed a single to Graham Pauley in the first inning before retiring the next 10 Missions batters.

Cusick's day was over after five innings of work. He allowed one base hit without issuing a walk and struck out four batters. Jack Cushing took over for Midland in the sixth inning.

The RockHounds ended the shutout with a run in the bottom of the sixth inning. With man down, Lazaro Armenteros reached on an error and stole second base. McGuire drove him in with a base hit to right field. That was the end of the day for Kollar as Henry Henry took over on the mound. Midland gained a 1-0 lead.

Midland extended their lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. Henry began the inning by walking William Simoneit. Butler took the right-hander deep for a two-run home run. His first long ball of the season made it a 3-0 game.

In the top of the ninth inning, Tyler Baum took the mound looking to convert the save attempt. Homer Bush Jr. Drew a walk to start the inning. Connor Hollis struck out swinging for the first out. Juan Zabala struck out looking for the second out. Ripken Reyes flew out to end the game.

The San Antonio Missions will have the day off on Monday before beginning their final homestand of the regular season on Tuesday, September 12th. The Missions will host the Springfield Cardinals for a six-game series. The pitching matchups have not yet been determined. Tuesday's first pitch is slated for 7:05 from Nelson Wolff Stadium.
