Knoxville, TN - The Knoxville Ice Bears lost for the first time in seven games in front of a raucous crowd of 3,988 to the Louisiana IceGators.

A physically aggressive first period left scoring at a premium. Louisiana struck first at the 16:09 mark with a goal by Clark Byczynski.

Knoxville answered with a power play goal with less a minute remaining in the first period. Jeremy Klaver started the play at the point with a dump behind the net that David Segal corralled. Segal found a streaking Brendan Taylor in the circle. Taylor came in on the backhand and beat Breton Lindoff top shelf.

In a second period which saw four Ice Bear penalties, Louisiana only capitalized on one power play opportunity. Kirk Byczynski beat Bryan Hince glove side from the blue line.

The Ice Bears evened the score with 2:33 left in the period. Nate Peterson wound up from the point and fired a bullet off of the pad of Lindoff. A crashing Peter Neal found the rebound and slid it through the five hole into the back of the net.
