The Knoxville Ice Bears are hosting their annual "Knoxville Ice Bears Free Agent Showcase" where players from all over the world travel to Knoxville, TN for the opportunity to earn one of two spots on the Knoxville Ice Bears main training camp roster which will open on Monday, Oct 14th and is open to the public. The camp sold out for the first time in the 5 year history of the camp and will feature 60 players who have traveled from Russia, Japan, Canada and the United States for their opportunity to earn a professional hockey contract.
WHEN - Friday, Oct 11, 2013 at 6 pm - Saturday, Oct 12, at 10 am, 2 pm, & 6 pm. - Sunday, Oct 13, at 10 am
WHERE - Knoxville Civic Coliseum
Background - The Knoxville Ice Bears have been hosting the Free Agent Showcase for five years. Each year the talent and number of players increases as word spreads about the level of professionalism the Knoxville Ice Bears offer as well as the great opportunities the city of Knoxville has to offer. The team has hosted this annual event at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum and has attracted interest from all over the world. Selected members have played in exhibition games but have yet to make the final Opening Night roster. This year's home exhibition game is scheduled for Friday, Oct 18 at 7:30 pm at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum.
The amount of talent offered in this year's camp could see a member from the Free Agent Showcase finally make the final roster and play in front of Knoxville Ice Bears fans for Opening Night on Friday, Nov 1 at 7:30 pm at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum.
