Erie Otters News Release
Erie, Pa. - Kris Knoblauch's home head coaching debut for the Erie Otters proved to be very successful as he picked up his first win for the Otters. The Otters defeated the Ottawa 67's, 6-2, Friday night to snap a six-game losing streak.
Jimmy McDowell put the Otters on the board with a power play goal at the 7:07 mark of the first period. McDowell blasted a shot from the left circle between the left circle between the legs of Jacob Blair for his fifth goal of the season.
Hayden Hodgson scored his third goal of the season at 15:02 to make it 2-0 as he deposited a backhander over the right arm of Blair. The Otters went on the power play following the goal, capitalizing quickly.
Connor Brown broke a ten-game goalless streak as his rebound trickled through Blair for his 17th goal of the season at 15:27.
The 67's got on the board with a power play goal by Dante Salituro 52 seconds into the second period, but the Otters were able to regain a three goal lead thanks to a great play from Connor McDavid. The rookie stole the puck from Cody Ceci and found J.P. Labardo on a no look pass in front. Labardo hammered home the shot for his 11th goal of the season at 12:07.
Kyle Pettit chased Blair from the net after he banked in a shot off the goaltender's left pad from behind the net at 14:58 for his second goal of the season. Clint Windsor relieved Blair after the goal.
Connor Crisp completed the scoring for Erie as he whacked in his own rebound from his knees with a swing at the puck in mid-air through the glove of Windsor at 3:35 of the third, Crisp's ninth goal of the season.
Remy Giftopoulos scored late in the third to make it a 6-2 final. The Otters outshot the 67's, 43-27, and their +16 shot margin was the most for the Otters this season.
